If you love fresh fruits, ingredients, and elaborate presentation, this is the perfect bar to visit!
Located in the Ginza district, Bar Orchard is a MUST when in Tokyo!!! Recommended by our hotel concierge, this hidden gem was the most unexpected experience we anticipated, and by far, one of the best.
Our map apps kept telling us our destination was on the opposite side of the block which was super frustrating. We randomly met this guy who was asking us what we were looking for and he responds with, “Oh! That’s my friend’s spot. Follow me…”
Here’s what you want to look for (sign pictured above): It’s on the 7th floor of the white building.
As the elevator doors open, you’re invited into this intimate space that seats about 10 at the bar and another couple of tables behind. It’s small. We went during a weekday so there were only a couple locals and a solo tourist. I can just imagine how quickly packed it gets on the weekends.
Sit at the bar, if you can. The owners, husband and wife, are the most passionate mixologists who are so meticulous and detail-oriented in their craft. And they speak perfect English! At one point, we were the only people there and striked up interesting conversations with them. They travel the world to source ingredients, glassware and techniques to craft the most unique and interactive cocktails! The presentation of every drink was so extra and we loved it.
There is no menu and no prices so if you have trust issues, leave them at the door. Their simplistic concept is using fresh fruits and ingredients to create elaborate custom cocktails. You literally point to what you like on the bar and they do their magic. Even if you opt for something uncomplicated, they have mastered and perfected classic drinks like an Old Fashioned.
Not gonna lie, after consuming what it seemed like every possible concoction, we thought our bill was going to result in a heart attack, but to our pleasant surprise (and relief), it was what you would expect to pay at a nice hotel. Considering the personal service and quality ingredients, you pay for what you get which made it worth every penny, or yen in this case. Come with an open palate and you won’t be disappointed.
